Palmerston North College Hockey Club

The Palmerston North College Hockey Club is a leading club in the Manawatu region with mens and womens teams in all grades of the adult competition.

About Us

The Palmerston North College Hockey Club began in 1904 as the Palmerston North College Old Boys Hockey Club and players came from the wider Manawatu Area.

Easter tournaments were where the ‘College’ clubs from Hawera, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Wellington and Napier congregated to annually battle it out for the coveted Easter Tournament Cup.  With the changes to the structure of hockey over the years, sadly this bastion for the College Hockey Club no longer occurs.

The Club has a strong history of fostering young players and providing a family atmosphere amongst its players. The youngsters, those in the prime of their hockey careers, and those tending towards ‘over the hill’ are all welcomed into club in a friendly and inclusive manner.

The Palmerston North College Hockey Club actively support the Hockey Manawatu fraternity with a number of players volunteering their time outside of the Club. We have volunteers who to Coach and Manage Representative Age Grade teams, Umpiring appointments, Board of Hockey Manawatu, and general maintenance of the Hockey Manawatu turfs. In 2012 David Craven became a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to Hockey, over his 55 years of service.
